FAQ

  • How does Crown Metrology ensure the accuracy and traceability of its calibrations?

Every calibration performed by Crown Metrology is traceable to the International System of Units (SI) through NIST or equivalent standards. Each result is supported by documented uncertainty and recorded in a controlled calibration certificate (FR-001). Reference standards are maintained, verified, and recalibrated on a strict schedule per SOP-015 (Measurement Traceability) and logged in the Master Equipment List. This ensures an unbroken chain of traceability for every measurement reported.

  • Are Crown Metrology’s services accredited under ISO/IEC 17025?

Crown Metrology operates in full alignment with ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and ANSI/NCSL Z540.3, with formal accreditation actively in progress. All methods, uncertainty budgets, and reporting practices are already structured to meet or exceed accreditation requirements. Customers receive results that are technically valid, traceable, and audit-ready, and will seamlessly transition to accredited documentation once formal recognition is achieved.

  • How does Crown Metrology maintain impartiality and prevent conflicts of interest?

Impartiality is fundamental to our operations. All requests undergo formal contract review (FR-002A) to assess technical feasibility and impartiality prior to acceptance. Crown Metrology’s QMS prohibits any commercial, financial, or production pressures from influencing technical results. Responsibilities for quality, technical, and financial decisions are clearly defined under QMS-001 §4.2, ensuring decisions are made based on data, not convenience.

  • How are customer instruments and data protected?

Customer property is controlled from intake through return using SOP-016 (Handling of Customer Items) and the Equipment Intake Form (FR-003). All instruments are uniquely identified, logged, and protected from damage or environmental influence. Sensitive data, including ITAR/EAR-controlled information, is secured according to SOP-019 (Export Compliance). Only authorized U.S. persons have access to controlled data, and confidentiality agreements are mandatory for all personnel.

  • What steps does Crown Metrology take to ensure continual improvement?

Crown Metrology’s QMS includes a formal continual improvement cycle that integrates internal audits, management reviews, risk assessments, and corrective actions. We track performance metrics such as turnaround time, customer satisfaction, and calibration accuracy. Nonconformances are investigated using FR-008/FR-009, and management reviews (FR-011) establish measurable goals for the following cycle. This structured feedback loop ensures the system evolves with every project.

  • Does Crown Metrology provide on-site calibration or only in-lab service?

We offer both. Crown Metrology provides laboratory and mobile calibration services throughout North Orange County and surrounding regions. On-site services follow the same environmental, traceability, and documentation standards as our laboratory operations, with conditions monitored and recorded using FR-005 (Environmental Log). Our goal is to deliver aerospace-level precision wherever your tools are used.
